Free Event: Mapping a Social Economy Eco-system

Europe Direct Waterford is delighted to invite you to A Social Economy Workshop in a blended format (in person and in a virtual space) on 7 October 2021 at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).

This event is organised with Europe Direct Waterford and their partners; the HCI GROWTH hub, WIT, Waterford Social Enterprise Network and the European Social Economy Regions (ESER).

The social economy (SE) generates up to €1.4bn in economic activity and addresses many challenges faced by Irish society each year. Higher Education Institutes have the potential to meaningfully support the Social Economy eco-system through targeted teaching and learning support for the SE community and supporting stakeholders.

Join our keynote speakers:

Alessandro Rancati, Social Economy Canvas Specialist, EU Policy Lab

Patrick Klein, Head of Sector - Social Economy and Social Enterprise, European Commission

This will be followed by a Round Table Discussion covering topics such as Social Enterprise (SE): Connections, Reimaging SE place Waterford Cultural Quarter), Youth volunteer eco-system. Connecting with the SE Community and SE and the green agenda.

Launched in February 2018, the European Social Economy Regions (ESER) initiative is a response of the European Commission to the growing need to increase the visibility of social economy and build networks of stakeholders at regional and local levels. This workshop is part of the ESER 2021 programme of activities.

Waterford has been an active member of the ESER network since 2019 through Europe Direct Waterford run from Waterford Libraries. The ESER Network is part of the European Commission' Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, & SMEs.

This event is also part of the 2021-2022 National Forum for the enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Series.
