Job Title: Membership & Operations Manager

Employer: Social Enterprise Republic of Ireland (SERI)

Location: Ireland (remote)

Position Type: Full-Time (Preferred) or Part-Time 

Contract Type: 2-year fixed-term (with an opportunity for contract extension)

Probation period: 6-months 

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Salary & Benefits: Salary (€40k-€50k pro rata depending on experience) & pension

About SERI:

​

Social Enterprise Republic of Ireland (SERI) is a national representative body for social enterprises in Ireland. We were established in July 2020 by a group of social enterprise practitioners and champions who’ve all made considerable contributions to the sector over many years. Our role is to advocate for social enterprises across Ireland to make Ireland a world-class ecosystem for social enterprises.

Purpose of the Role:

​

The Membership & Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the effectiveness and success of SERI's membership engagement, member services, financial sustainability and project management. This individual will be instrumental in fostering a supportive environment for social enterprises across Ireland, ensuring their needs are represented and addressed through community-building and managing key projects and initiatives to enhance the sector's growth and impact.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Sectoral Consultations and Advocacy Support:

 

  • Lead the identification of advocacy issues by conducting sectoral consultations with stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement strategies to address these issues, working closely with the CEO.

 

Financial Sustainability:

 

  • Prepare and submit progress reports to existing funders, showcasing the impact and achievements of SERI's initiatives.

 

Member & Partner Services:

 

  • Conduct member inductions, providing a comprehensive overview of SERI's mission, services, and benefits.

  • Handle inbound queries from members and non-members, offering timely and informative responses.

  • Build and maintain engagement in a National WhatsApp Community or similar platforms to foster a sense of belonging and collaboration among members.

  • Manage and facilitate Micro Networks, creating opportunities for members to connect, share resources, and collaborate on specific areas of interest.

  • Manage and facilitate location-based networks, promoting regional collaboration and support among social enterprises.

  • Develop and enrich the Resource Library, ensuring members have access to valuable tools, research, and guides to support their growth and development.

 

Project Management:

 

  • Oversee the implementation and management of various projects, including but not limited to:

    • Cross-border partnership projects with Social Enterprise Northern Ireland (SENI)

    • Conferences and events

    • Social procurement initiatives

    • EU and international projects

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget, achieving their intended outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

​

Essential:

​

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in community management, operations, or project management (ideally within the social enterprise/third sector but this is not essential).

  • Proven track record of successful project management, member engagement, community-building and stakeholder/partner management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and remotely as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about social enterprise and its potential to drive positive change.

  • Strong working knowledge of social enterprise policy and practice.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Financial management skills, e.g. maintaining a cash flow forecast, expenditure tracking.

 

Desired Criteria:

 

  • Experience using technology for community-building, e.g. online platforms, marketing funnels. 

  • Experience using technology for task/process optimisation, e.g. CRM automations. 

  • Facilitation skills.
